Kendrapara: Police have detained one youth in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old girl, Pattamundai SDPO Sandhyarani Behuria said Saturday.
The minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by some youths March 2 night. The incident comes under the Nikirai police station. Police said she was forcibly raped by the labourers, who were engaged in tent construction work near the victim’s house.
The victim’s parents had lodged an FIR at the Nikirai police station and acting on the FIR, Nikirai police registered a case and detained the youth. The medical examination of the victim girl has been done in the District Headquarter Hospital and the police recorded the victim’s statement under section 161 of CrPC.
