Odisha registers 447 new Covid-19 cases; 78 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 447 new Covid-19 cases, of which 78 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,38,411. Active caseload in the state now stands at 4,542.

Odisha also reported four (04) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,309 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported four (04) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.

Keonjhar reported highest deaths (two). It was followed by Kalahandi and Khurda districts (one each).

Out of the 447 new infections, 260 were reported from quarantine centres while 187 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 441 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 180 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 62 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Rayagada (31), Sambalpur (24), Mayurbhanj (17), Balasore (13), Jagatsinghpur (12), Jajpur (11), Kendrapara and Puri (eight each), Nayagarh and Sundargarh (five each), Dhenkanal and Gajapati (four each), Angul (three), Bhadrak, Deogarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nuapada (two each) and Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Subarnapur (one each).

The State Pool reported 43 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,15,20,424 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 482.
