Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 8,681 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 4,44,194. Active caseload in the state stands at 61,698. Out of the 8,681 new infections, 4,948 were reported from quarantine centres while 3,733 persons contracted the virus locally.
Total COVID-19 fatality of patients while under treatment in hospitals as reported by state Health and Family Welfare department is 14.
Khurda district has registered the highest number of new cases with 1,408 persons testing positive for the disease, followed by Sundargarh with 745 new infections.
A total of 1,00,86,656 swab samples have been cumulatively tested in the state so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 4,679.

Other districts that have reported new COVID-19 cases are: Cuttack (570), Puri (514), Bolangir (459), Bargarh (423), Angul (419), Jharsuguda (411), Sambalpur (410), Nabarangpur (368), Jajpur (321), Nuapada (304), Mayurbhanj (220), Ganjam (198), Kalahandi (195), Nayagarh (160), Balasore (155), Rayagada (151), Keonjhar (148), Gajapati (125), Koraput (113), Bhadrak (103), Deogarh (102), Subarnapur (98), Kendrapara (85), Boudh (57), Kandhamal (54), Malkangiri (34), Dhenkanal (33) and Jagatsinghpur (21).
The State Pool reported 277 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside the state and have tested positive.
