Odisha registers below 4,000 new Covid-19 cases, Khurda tops with 500

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 3,405 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, I & PR department, Government of Odisha said in a tweet Tuesday.

Of the fresh 3,405 new COVID-19 cases, 1,942 cases were from quarantine centres and 1,463 were local contact infections. In the last 24 hours, 8,182 patients have recovered, taking the total recoveries to 8,04,981.

After reporting below 4,000 new Covid-19 cases for consecutively three days-June 12, 13 and 14, the state continued the same trend Tuesday. Odisha’s new Covid-19 cases June 11 were 5,235. And the numbers of new cases it had reported June 12, 13 and 14 were 4,852, 4,469 and 4,329 respectively.

Odisha also reported 42 new fatalities taking the toll to 3,388, as per a tweet by Health and Family Welfare department posted Tuesday morning. Of the fresh cases, Puri, Khurda, Jharsuguda and Cuttack districts reported four cases each, followed by Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Rayagada (three each), Ganjam, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Malkangiri (two each), Deogarh, Balasore, Bolangir, Kendrapara, Sambalpur and Nuapada (One each). Among the four cases reported from Khurda district, three were from Bhubaneswar.

Khurda district topped the list with 500 fresh cases, followed by Jajpur (391), Balasore (296), Cuttack (230), Mayurbhanj (187), Angul (183), Bhadrak (179), Puri (141), Jagatsinghpur (129), Nayagarh (97), Keonjhar (89), Nabarangpur (83), Kendrapara (73), Malkangiri (72), Bargarh (66), Koraput (63), Boudh (59), Gajapati (58), Kandhamal (55), Dhenkanal and Kalahandi (54 each), Sundargarh (48), Rayagada (45), Sambalpur (38), Ganjam (36), Nuapada (28), Sonepur (25), Deogarh (23), Bolangir (18) and Jharsuguda (nine).

The State Pool stood at 76. The state has also been witnessing a declining trend in reporting State Pool cases. These are persons who have come from outside the state and have tested positive in Odisha. The numbers stood at 106 and 109 June 13 and 14 respectively.

With new COVID-19 fresh cases, the total number of positive cases in the state has gone up to 8,59,526. Current active COVID-19 caseload stands at 51,104.

A total of 1,27,77,739 swab samples have been cumulatively tested in the state so far.
