Odisha reports 296 new Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, tally rises to 10,44,041 with 8,364 fatalities

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 296 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours from 21 districts taking the total tally in the state to 10,44,041.

The daily Covid load in Odisha which remained below the 500 mark for the last 13 days since October 27 last had reported a record low of 170 cases November 4 last.

Health and Family welfare department sources said of the total 296 cases,174 were reported from the quarantine centres and 122 as local contact cases.

At least 58 cases, about 19,59 per cent, were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years. Khordha district has the highest number of152 positive cases followed by Cuttack ( 23) and Jajpur ( 14). These three coastal districts together accounted for 63.85 per cent of the total new cases reported in the state in the past 24 hours.

The recovery in the state jumped to 10,32,566 after 369 more Covid patients were cured on Monday and the Covid toll rose to 8364 with the report of three more deaths, two in Khordha district and one in Angul district, were recorded in the health audit.

The active cases further declined to 3058 which included a maximum of 1497 cases from Khordha district followed by Cuttack(278) and Jajpur ( 110).

These three districts have a total of 1885 active cases, about 61.64 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

The other 27 districts in the state recorded active cases below 100 mark. Sources said the daily positivity rate(TPR) in the last 24 hours remained 0.55 per cent and barring Khordha district which has 1.4 per cent TPR, the other 29 districts have less than one per cent of which eleven districts have zero test positivity rate.
