Bhubaneswar: In line with the vision of Viksit Odisha 2036, the state is all set to finalise its Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0 following a stakeholder consultation meeting here at the City. The revamped policy aims at strengthening the state’s position as a leader in clean and green mobility. The meeting, chaired by Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Commerce & Transport department, emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination and active private sector participation. It also proposed an amendment to the Odisha Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy to finalise the Odisha EV Policy 2.0. Padhee highlighted the need for capacity building and policy alignment to ensure a smooth and inclusive transition to electric mobility across the state. Senior officials and experts from multiple departments, including Transport, Housing & Urban Development, Energy, Finance, and Skill Development & Technical Education, participated in the discussions. Key attendees included Transport Commissioner Amitav Thakur, CMD of OSRTC NBPS Rajput, and MD of CRUT Sanjaya Biswal.
Participants deliberated on several critical areas, including enhanced purchase incentives, vehicle retrofitting and scrappage benefits, the development of charging infrastructure under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, and the creation of a dedicated State EV Fund to support the long-term sustainability of EV initiatives in Odisha.
