Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has arrested a sub-treasury employee in Nayagarh district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a pensioner to process a pension case.
The accused, Saroj Kumar Sahu, a senior assistant in the Khandapada sub-treasury office, was caught red-handed while taking the bribe.
He had allegedly demanded the money, warning that the bill would not be cleared if the payment was not made. The pensioner later lodged a complaint with Vigilance authorities.
Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid, and Sahu was apprehended while accepting the bribe. The cash was seized.
Searches were underway at two locations, including his residence, Vigilance sources said.
