Bhubaneswar/Kendujhar: Odisha Vigilance seized 300 grams of gold and Rs 7.29 lakh cash from the possession of a labour officer, who was nabbed while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000, officials said Monday.
Acting on an allegation, vigilance sleuths nabbed Akash Bisoi, District Labour Officer (DLO), Kendujhar, while he was demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an electrical contractor for grant of labour licence in favour of his agency, they said.
Following the trap, the department launched simultaneous searches at two of Bisoi’s locations. During searches, cash of Rs 7,29,200 and 300 grams of gold jewellery were seized from his government residential quarter at Kendujhar, a vigilance officer said.
The vigilance has registered a case against Bisoi at its Baleshwar station under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 while further investigation is in progress, he said.
