Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Monday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.
Upto 8.30 AM of May 23: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir and Nuapada districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.
In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur in a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.
From 8.30 AM of May 23 to 8.30 AM of May 24: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
In the same time frame, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next five days. It is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at few places during the next five days over some districts of interior Odisha such as Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.
Consequently, hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 40 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 43.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.8 degree Celsius was recorded at Kendrapara, the bulletin informed.
