Odisha weather: Temperature likely to be above normal by 3-5 degree Celsius

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Saturday issued a Yellow Warning for heatwave conditions in several districts of Odisha.

The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next four days and a slight fall thereafter.

The maximum temperature is likely to be above normal range by 3-5 degree Celsius at a few places in the state over the next four days. Consequently, hot and humid weather is likely over the next four days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside from 11am to 3pm.

Upto 8.30 AM of June 11: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, the IMD bulletin stated.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface windspeed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Khurda districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Angul, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of June 11 to 8.30 AM of June 12: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh and Keonjhar districts.

Apart from this, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of the state.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 39 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 45.6 degree Celsius was recorded at Jharsuguda while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.7 degree Celsius was recorded at Malkangiri, the bulletin informed.
