Deogarh: A woman was allegedly stabbed to death in Pradhanpat area of Odisha’s Deogarh district, a source said Wednesday.
According to the source, two assailants pounced on the victim while she was leaving her office Tuesday night. The miscreants repeatedly hit the woman with a wooden log and stabbed her with a knife before escaping the scene. Afterwards, the employees of the office rushed to rescue the screaming woman.
The employees took the blood-soaked woman to Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where a doctor pronounced her dead, the source added.
Later, cops reached the hospital and sent the body for postmortem.
The deceased was identified as Rita Sahu. She worked as an employee at a company called – SKS Finance. She hailed from Kuchinda town in Sambalpur district, the source informed.
Police have launched a probe into the matter. Deogarh SP Pramod Kumar Rath visited the crime scene Wednesday morning.
However, the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
