Bhubaneswar: Odisha Tuesday reported 647 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 18,757.
Of the fresh cases, 431 cases were reported from quarantine centres and the rest 216 contracted the virus locally, informed Information and Public Relations Department in a tweet.
Ganjam district again reported the highest number with 225 positive cases. The districts that followed in the case tally are Cuttack (84), Khurda (68), Rayagada (47), Balasore (40), Angul (37), Koraput (28), Sundargarh (22), Kendrapara (13), Bhadrak (12), Malkangiri, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur (ten each), Keonjhar (eight), Jagatsinghpur (seven), Bolangir and Kandhamal (five each), Nayagarh and Bargarh (four each), Mayurbhanj (three), Nabarangpur and Jajpur (two each) and Sonepur (one).
The state also reported six deaths due to the pandemic disease. Cuttack, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Rayagada and Kendrapara each reported one death. COVID-19 death toll in the state has crossed 100 mark. The total number of deaths now stands at 103. At the same time 30 patients died due to reasons other than COVID-19.
Of the total 18, 757 positive cases, 12, 909 have so far recovered from the disease and 5,715 are undergoing treatment at various COVID-19 hospitals.
