OHRC directs Malkangiri SP to submit report on alleged torture of two youths in custody

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Human Rights Commission Tuesday directed the Malkangiri District Superintendent of Police to inquire into the alleged torture of two youths in police custody in Motu Police station and submit a report to the Commision by November 26– the next date of hearing.

Taking suo motu cognisance of a media report, the commission said the report prima facie discloses about the horrible state of affairs violating the human rights of two youths.

As per the reports, two youths  — Binod Biswas and Biplab Haldar — of MV -81 under Motu Police station have been subjected to torture in police custody for which their conditions became serious and they have been admitted in the hospital.” The newspaper report also discloses about holding of Kangaroo. Court in the village, the Commission said.
