Janla: A motorbike rider was killed in a road mishap after being hit by a truck near Gangapada petrol pump on NH 16 under Janla outpost here Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Hemant Kumar Sahu, 30, a resident of Jaypur village under Kanas police limits.
According to sources, Hemant was on his way to Bhubaneswar on a motorcycle with his elder brother as pavilion rider when a speeding vehicle crossed them. As they shifted right to make way for the vehicle, a truck coming from behind hit them. While Hemant was overrun by the truck and died on the spot, his elder brother escaped with minor injuries.
On being informed, policemen from Janla outpost reached the spot and sent the body to Capital Hospital for post-mortem. Police have seized the marauding truck, while driver is said to be absconding.
