Jajpur: A passenger died and 20 others were injured after a car hit a passenger bus at Andhari village under Kalinganagar area of this district Saturday morning.
The identities of the deceased and injured passengers are yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, public carrier Maa Tarini was heading from Rairangpur to Bhubaneswar with about 60 passengers on board. Near Andhari, one of the tyres of a car coming from the opposite direction burst, forcing it jumped over the divider and colliding face to face with the bus.
An occupant of the ill fated car died on the spot. The injured passengers of the bus were rushed to Jajpur road community health center. After first aid, some critically injured passengers were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Local police reached the spot and have started a probe into the incident.
