Bhubaneswar, Sept 22: After winning an award at the Woodpecker Film Festival held in New Delhi for ‘A for Apple’, another documentary of filmmaker Snehasis Das, ‘Let’s Bicycle Together’ has been nominated for the Ability Fest to be held in Chennai.
‘Let’s Bicycle Together’ has been selected for the ‘60 seconds to Fame!’, a one-minute film competition at the Ability Fest, the international disability film festival to be held from September 28 to October 1.
The one-minute documentary is about true friendship. It depicts how a true friend is always a pillar of support and is ever-willing to see things from the other’s point of view and ever-ready to provide assistance whenever needed. It shows how friendship between people with or without disabilities usually enriches lives.
The names of winners of ‘60 seconds to Fame!’ will be announced October 1 at the valedictory function of Ability Fest at 6 pm at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai.
Speaking to Orissa POST Snehasis said, “I am happy one of my films were nominated at the Woodpecker has won an award and another short film has been nominated for another film festival.”
Snehasis is currently busy with his new project which will be a feature film of more than 90 minutes in duration based on environmental issues. “Documentary film is my passion and I love to work on various social and environmental issues. I am working on a project with Crusian filmmakers, Appania. Work on the script is going on and we plan to release it by 2016,” he said.
Documentary filmmakers from the state are doing well in the national and international arena and many filmmakers have won awards at different film festivals. However, “though many filmmakers are making documentary films in the state and their works are receiving appreciation, documentary as a genre is infinitely more popular in Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai compared to Orissa. We are yet to catch up,” rounds off Snehasis.
