Bhubaneswar: Orissa hit back strongly to reduce Punjab to 95 for six after the hosts were dismissed for 142 in their first innings in the under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy game at the Vikash ground here Monday.
When the hosts batted, Punjab pacer Rishab Bhagat (7/57) construed the Orissa collapse. He was well-supported by Akul Pratap Pandove (3/24). Opener Swastik Samal (35, 44b, 6×4) and Satyajit Sabat (28, 98b, 4×4) were the only two Oriya batsmen to offer some resistance.
Punjab openers, Arjun Verma (18) and Parab Singh (21) started well putting on a stand of 43. However, once Sabat (1/0) broke the stand, wickets continued to fall regularly. There were also two run outs which also hampered the Punjab cause.
Brief scores:
Orissa 142 (Swastik Samal 35; Rishab Bhagat 7/57); Punjab 95 for 6 (Parab Singh 21; Satyajit Sabat 1/0). Match to continue.
