Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: Orissa continued their dominating run as they drubbed Tamil Nadu 4-1 in a match of the 21st Senior Women’s National (Final round) Football Championships at Jabalpur, Monday.
After Pyari Xaxa had opened the account in the 35th minute, Sakina Nisa scored a brace in the 60th and 89th minutes respectively. Jasmani Samad also found the back of the net in injury time (90+5) to finish the rout. Tamil Nadu could get one goal back in the 66th minute.
Orissa will meet Goa in their next match Friday.
Biplab impresses Wright
IPL franchise Mumbai Indians consultant and former Team India coach John Wright was pretty impressed with the blistering century of Orissa batsman Biplab Samantray. Wright enquired about Biplab from the OCA management after Orissa’s match against Uttar Pradesh at the Barabati Stadium. Biplab became the first Orissa player to score a century in a T20 game.
Inter-School cricket
DAV Public School CDA, Orissa Police High School and Sayeed Seminary registered emphatic victories in their respective matches of the BC Parida Memorial CDAA Inter-School cricket tournament at different grounds of Cuttack, Monday.
DAV, CDA triumphed over Sishu Bharati School by 135 runs, while Orissa Police defeated Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir by nine wickets. Sayeed Seminary trounced Queens Mary Public School by eight wickets.
