Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission and said the state government will get nearly Rs 1,92,070 crore Central assistance over the next five years (2015-16 to 2019-20).
The state would receive around Rs 27,000 crore in 2015-16, Rs 31,000 crore in 2016-17, Rs35,000 in 2017-18 Rs 41,000 in 2018-19 and `48,000 in 2019-20, according to the recommendation of the commission, said BJP state unit president KV Singhdeo.
The state would, going by the recommendation of the commission, receive Rs 26,890 crore in the fiscal, which is around `7,000 crore more than its estimate of Rs 19,580 crore of Central tax share for the 2015-16 fiscal, he said.
The commission has recommended Central assistance to the states under the three heads relating to revenue deficit, panchayats and civic bodies and disaster management, the BJP leader said.
