Post News Network
Bhubaneswar, June 2: Oriya actor Buddhaditya’s alleged social media posts on Priyanka Chopra’s dress code has triggered controversy in the temple city Friday. The actress’s decision to wear dress that showed her legs for a meeting with PM Narendra Modi was criticized by some social media users recently. She was trolled everywhere—from Twitter to Instagram. However, the unapologetic actress gave it back to the critics by posting another photo featuring Chopra with her mother— both in short dresses, showing off their legs— captioned ‘legs for the day.’ Meanwhile, actor Buddhaditya’s Facebook account featured a post Thursday that slammed Chopra for wearing the dress. “U always in western…exposing (sic)…at least in front of the PM of ur (sic) country. U cld wear Indian (sic)…respect..n wen u were pointed out ..u posted a thigh exposing snap to show u damn care..this is the respect u hve for millions of Indians sentiments? Who made n supported u??(feminists…stay away),” the post read. No sooner did the actor apparently posted this on Facebook, Bhubaneswarites slammed him online. Meanwhile, the controversy was catalysed further after a follower of the actor’s online account claimed on social media that he had sent ‘filthy’ remarks to the former’s inbox for slamming him over Chopra controversy. A Facebook user Friday posted the screenshot of all the abusive messages, allegedly sent by the actor to her personal chat box on the social networking site. The user’s post became viral. Bhubaneswarites criticised the actor for his ‘illogical’ behavior. Later, Buddhaditya claimed that his account had been hacked. The actor insisted that he never posted such things on the user’s inbox. “Namaskaar..it has come to my notice via msgs n screenshots .. happened to me second time in 3 months.. my fb account has been hacked again..n sum extreme words hve been sent via msgs..Watever I write I do on my update..I .dnt abuse..I hve sent notices to fb..till then m extremely sorry n really apologetic..who faced this..tats Not me..Buddhaditya..again apologies till matter is solved..regards…(sic),”the actor posted his clarification on social media Friday. Buddhaditya Mohanty was caught in controversy a month back as well. He had slammed a group of Odissi dancers for posting their video of Odissi dance to the tunes of a popular English pop song— Shape of You, on the Internet. He had apparently slammed everyone who praised the music video online.
Orissa POST interacted with some of the alleged victims of the actor’s online fury. “I am not shocked about his behavior, but yes I am shocked about the way he talked with a young girl, who might be his fan. As a celebrity he should maintain his stature in front of everyone. Even if he doesn’t like someone’s comment, he should avoid getting involved in unnecessary social war. As an actor, he should concentrate more on improving his acting career,”said Brienjyoti Mohanty, who was allegedly slammed for his counter-response to Buddhaditya’s post.
