Bhubaneswar: Unknown miscreants Friday night stole ornaments of a deity at the Ishaneswar temple at Niladri Vihar area under the Chandrasekharpur Police station limits here. Police has started investigations into the matter.
The temple priest told police that after offering puja Friday night he went out for a while. However, on his return he spotted the silver tiara, gold eyes, earrings and nose rings missing from the idol of the goddess inside the temple premises.
The stolen ornaments were worth around a lakh. The police is suspicious of the priest as it is almost impossible for the thieves to steal so many ornaments in such short duration.
