Parcel bomb case: Seized gadgets sent for forensic tests

Cuttack: The Crime Branch (CB) has sent the electronic gadgets seized from Patnagarh parcel bomb blast accused Punjilal Meher to Gandhinagar forensic laboratory in Gujarat in a bid to gather more evidence against him.
As per reports, Punjilal’s laptop, mobile phone, pen drive and printer have been sent to the lab for retrieval of the data allegedly deleted by the accused, to erase evidence against him. These gadgets were earlier sent to State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) here, said a senior officer of CB.
Apart from the electronic gadgets, 17 personal diaries belonging by Punjilal, which were also seized, have been sent to the SFSL to verify his handwriting. After receiving the report the diaries will also be presented before the court as additional evidence against Punjilal.
It was earlier reported that an anonymous letter allegedly sent by Punjilal to Bolangir superintendent of police (SP) was typed on his laptop.
The accused took a printout from his printer after transferring the word file to his pen drive and later sent it to the police to mislead the investigation.
Once retrieved, the data is expected to establish Punjilal’s involvement in the case and it will be presented before the court as vital evidence against him, said the CB officer. He further stated that Punjilal had contacted a foreign researcher over his cell phone and received some tips on making the parcel bomb. After verification of the cell phone, it will also be presented in the court. This apart, the anonymous letter has also been sent to the lab for examination.
The CB is also waiting to combine the report of some psychologists, who are yet to submit a report stating the circumstances under which the accused took the decision to terminate his rival. A team of psychologists were present during Pujilal’s interrogation to notice his behaviour and activities.
Meanwhile, the CB is also looking for the autorickshaw driver at Raipur who had booked the parcel with the courier there on behalf of Punjilal.
