Bhubaneswar: Cashing in on the state’s age-old art Pattachitra, an apparel brand ‘G’ by Kumar Guru Mishra was launched at a city hotel here. Mishra unveiled his latest collection ‘Chitraa Assemblage’ and website www.kumargurumishra.com in presence of Odia movie actress Archita Sahu.
Mishra, who is the first Odia designer to do a premium solo show at Bangalore Fashion Week, said, “With this event I step into the fashion industry.” He added that for the first time ever, he has attempted to create “something different” using the art of traditional cloth-based scroll painting Pattachitra and hoped that people would love it.
“There is no dearth of talent in Odisha, if we want then we can achieve great heights. Belonging to the land of Lord Jagannath, I believe fashion comes naturally to us!” Mishra exclaimed.
Archita who was donning an attire from Mishra’s Chitraa Assemblage collections said, “The day I saw his collections I fell in love with all of them. I wish him all the best for his future endeavour.”
It may be worth mentioning here that Mishra was also the first Odia to present his couture at India Runway Week in New Delhi.
