Tihidi: A serious irregularity in social security scheme has come to the fore at Shyamsundarpur panchayat under Tihidi block in Bhadrak. Pension money of 25 dead beneficiaries has been misappropriated. Locals have taken up the issue with the BDO and demanded a probe into the scam.
They have warned of an agitation if no action is taken against those involved in the scam.
Reports said, 25 pension beneficiaries died two years ago. But some unscrupulous people in nexus with officials have embezzled their pension fund.
Besides, there have been irregularities in Indira Awas Yojana. Some beneficiaries have not built their houses, but their bills have been cleared.
Some people’s representatives and locals had taken up the issue with the block administration, but no action has been taken till date.
BDO Smrutiranjan Deo said the allegation will be looked into and action will be taken.
