Rourkela: In a spine-chilling incident, six persons Tuesday were killed by ultras of the banned People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) at Hudidag village in Jharkhand, about 120 km from Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district, over a turf war, the police said.
The dreaded outfit is active in this part of the state and Jharkhand. Police said the ultras shot dead their old cadres at Hudidag, about 15 km from Ranchi under Tupudani police outpost and dumped their body before absconding. Three motorcycles and other material were seized from the spot. The bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem. A case was registered in this connection and further investigations are on.
The deceased were identified as Childar Zakir Hussain, Manish Pahan, Aman Yadav, Anil Pahan of Khunti, Md. Raza and Md. Parvez of Pithoria in Ranchi. Khunti superintendent of police (SP) Anish Gupta reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. He asked the police to intensify patrolling and frisk every vehicle and people passing by the border.
The incident has triggered panic in the area as the residents were found tightlipped on the issue fearing backlash by the ultras.
Gupta said the incident is the fallout of an internal turf war between two groups of PLFI members.
The incident occurred after the deceased claiming supremacy formed a separate group in the name of the banned outfit and unleashed a reign of terror in the bordering areas.
The PLFI ultras tried to resist them from carrying out their activities, but in vain. This led to a fight between the two groups following which the six youths were shot dead, it was learnt.
The police have started a probe but failed to get any leads about the incident till reports last came in. PNN
