Bargarh: A 17-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a hotel room in Gaisilat area in this town Monday. The deceased hailing from Bheluapadar village under Gaisilat police limits in Bargarh district was a Plus-II student of a college, police said.
Meanwhile, police have detained the ‘boyfriend’ of the girl in this connection. He has been identified as Rahul Bag of Pardhiapali village under Bolangir Sadar police limits.
According to sources, Rahul on some pretext had taken the minor girl to the hotel room. Later, the girl was found dead following which the hotel staff informed the cops.
On being informed, Town police reached the hotel and recovered the body. It was then sent for autopsy while a probe into the matter has been launched.
While no exact reason behind the murder is known yet, police suspect that the murder could be due to the fallout of an affair between the deceased and Bag.
“A case has been registered and probe is on. We have detained a male friend of the deceased. The reason of death will be ascertained after the arrival of the post-mortem report. Interrogation of the detainee is also on,” a senior police official said.
