Briefing media persons here, Cuttack-Bhubaneswar police commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said the Prime Minister is arriving in Odisha on a two-day visit May 10.

He is scheduled to hold a road show in Bhubaneswar May 10 evening.

“We are making foolproof security arrangements for the visit of the Prime Minister. The roadshow will be conducted from Ram Mandir Square to Vani Vihar in the city,” he said.

Five DCP rank officers, 10 additional DCP, 27 ACP rank officers, 41 inspectors and 180 other officers along with 55 platoons of force will be deployed for the roadshow, he said.

The entire route has been declared as a no-flying zone while vehicular movement will be restricted. The area will be sanitized by bomb disposal squad and dog squads, Panda said.

The police commissioner said that security personnel will also be deployed on rooftops of roadside buildings. Three special tactical units or anti-terrorism squads will also be there.

Modi, who addressed his first election meeting in the state during the current poll season on May 6 at Berhampur and Nabarangpur in South Odisha, will again visit the state on May 10 for two days to campaign for party candidates.

The Odisha government has already ordered no drone zone for the stretch of the roadshow of the Prime Minister in the state capital and also the venues of the Prime Minister’s election meetings on May 11 at Kandhamal, Bargarh, and Bolangir, the three parliamentary constituencies going to polls May 18.

Official sources said the roadshow will be held from Ram Mandir to Vani Vihar, a three-kilometre stretch, at 6 p.m. Friday.

As a security measure, about 55 platoons of police forces and three units of the anti-terrorism squad will be deployed besides the bomb and dog squads.

At least five DCPs, 10 additional DCPs, 27 ACPs, and 41 inspectors will also be deployed to supervise the security arrangements during the roadshow.
