Bhubaneswar: Days after BJP accused Odisha government of neglecting PMAY beneficiaries in western Odisha, the governing BJD retaliated Wednesday stating that some eligible persons are unable to receive benefits under the Central housing plan because the PMAY portal is down.

Ministers Niranjan Pujari and Sushanta Singh addressed a press conference saying that qualified persons are unable to make it into the beneficiary list since the relevant portal is not operating in the region.

Even though Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena had informed the Centre about the situation, Minister Pujari said that no action has been taken yet.

Pujari and Singh asked the Centre to take quick action to address the issue of western Odisha residents receiving PMAY funds.

“People of Western Odisha have no access to the portal. It’s not opening. Immediate steps need to be taken to make it functional so that people can get houses at the earliest and the dream of houses to all can be fulfilled”, said Minister Niranjan Pujari.

In response to the allegations, former BJP MLA Rabi Nayak said that various eligible people from the panchayat level applied for PMAY in 2018-19, but their applications were ignored by the DRDA offices.

“The BJD is just trying to divert the real issues by misleading the people of the State,” Nayak added.
