Balasore: A Special POCSO Court in Balasore Monday sentenced Sarthak Si of Alalpur village under Jaleswar police limits to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 after convicting him for kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl. In default of payment, the convict will undergo an additional six months of imprisonment, the court ordered.
According to the prosecution, the convict had abducted the girl on her way home from a computer class and later confined her in a lodge, where he committed the offence.
The victim’s father lodged an FIR, June 5, 2013, leading to the registration of a case under Sections 363, 366, 366(A), 376, and 34 of the IPC, along with Section 4 of the POCSO Act. Police later arrested him on the charge.\

Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Kumar Panda informed that the judgement was delivered after examining 12 witnesses and 17 exhibits.
