Rourkela: Bandhamunda police of Sundargarh district Friday arrested two absconding accused involved in gangrape of a 17-year-old girl of Bishra area that had taken place a year back.
The two were identified as Duryodhan Raksa (37) of Bandhamunda D-Cabin and Raju Mukhi (35) of Diesel Colony and produced in court, DSP PK Mishra told media. Police also seized a mobile that was snatched from the victim’s boy friend, Mishra added.
According to reports, the girl was having a chat with her boy friend in the evening of May 2 last year at Bandhamunda D-Cabin area when two masked men arrived at the spot. They first snatched the mobile phone from the boy and demanded Rs20, 000 from them. The accused held the girl hostage and sent the boy to arrange the money. Left with no option, the boy left the place and informed the police.
Meanwhile, the accused took the girl to an isolated place and raped her whole night. Later, they dumped the girl at Bandhamunda D-Cabin square. Locals rescued her in a dying condition in the wee hours next day.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s family, police registered a case but failed to arrest the accused at that time. PNN
