Jaleswar: The police foiled an armed bank dacoit bid late Sunday under Jaleswar police limits and apprehended seven inter-state dacoits. In a swift operation and timely intervention of the DIG –cum-incharge of IG of Police (Eastern Range), Satyajit Nayak, the Jaleswar police apprehended seven inter-state anti-socials including four from West Bengal and one from Delhi, while they were preparing a plan for a bank dacoity at Jaleswar.
The dacoit gang had congregated at Dashahara ground in Gobar ghat under Jaleswar police limits in Balasore district when the police swung into action and foiled their plan to loot a bank. The Jaleswar police seized two pistols with 14 rounds of ammunition, one country-made gun with a live cartridge, iron rod, one gas cylinder, cutter and six mobile phones. The police also seized one four-wheeler and three motorbikes, besides Rs 3,600 cash from the possession of arrested dacoits, Nayak said. The DIG said the Jaleswar police registered a case and further investigation is on.
According to Nayak, he got information from reliable sources that some interstate anti-socials had congregated at a place under Jaleswar police limits and hatched a plan for an armed bank dacoity. The DIG said he directed the SP of Balasore and IIC of Jaleswar police to conduct raids. Acting upon the direction of the DIG, the Jaleswar police later conducted raids, arrested the dacoits and managed to foil the armed dacoit bid.
