Kendrapara: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her tutor who made the sex video viral. The accused, Ganesh Nayak, 25, a polio victim, has been arrested.

The case has come to the fore in Palasingha village under Nikirai police station in coastal Kendrapara district.

According to Gunamani Nayak, the IIC of Nikirai police station, Ganesh Nayak, a resident of Palasingha village, used to come to the house of Mita (name changed), who is in Class 3 of the local primary school, for giving her tuition.

Only the family members of Mita are residing in the house as her father is working outside the state. Taking advantage of the situation at her home and the absence of her family members during tuition hour, Nayak used to rape Mita several times by threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to her parents.

Eight days back, Ganesh allegedly raped Mita and made a sex video, threatening to kill her if she revealed it to anyone. The matter came to the notice of the family members, when Mita’s mother asked the tutor to send an Aadhaar card copy to her brother who is working in Delhi.

Ganesh allegedly sent the sex video clip to Mita’s uncle mistakenly. Mita’s uncle, after seeing the sex video of his niece, telephoned Mita’s mother and also asked Ganesh about the video clip.

Ganesh threatened to kill Mita’s uncle and her family members along with Mita. However, his threats fell flat when Mita’s family confronted Ganesh and quizzed him about the video clip. Ganesh admitted his wrongdoing and deleted the video from his mobile.

Enraged over his actions, Mita’s family members and some villagers nabbed Ganesh and thrashed him before
handing him to Nikirai police. Mita’s mother later on Friday night lodged an FIR at Nikirai police station in this regard against the tutor.

Nikirai police registered a case (No -70dated 11.5.2018 under Section 376(2)(i)(j), 506 of IPC; 6 POCSO Act ; 66(A) Information Technology Act against Ganesh and arrested him.

“The accused later confessed to the crime before police and police also got prima facie evidence from the seized mobile of the accused to prove he has committed the crime,” said IIC Nayak.
On Saturday, the minor girl and the accused were sent for medical tests to District Headquarters Hospital. Police will produce the accused and the victim before the court to record her statement under Section 164 Cr PC, added Nayak.

Meanwhile, the girl’s mother demanded death sentence to the accused for his heinous and beastly act.
