Nabarangpur: An FIR has been registered against former Nabarangpur MP and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pradeep Majhi for allegedly threatening the District Welfare Officer (DWO), Palaka Rabindra, at the District Collectorate.

As per reports, a Class VII student from Kukudi Semala Government Upgraded Primary School hostel had sustained severe burn injuries in a pressure cooker blast.

However, as per Majhi’s allegations, the injured student was not taken to any hospital for treatment for nine straight days. Later, the MP brought the injured boy to the Collectorate, alleging negligence by school authorities and the DWO.

According to the written complaint by the DWO, Majhi entered the Collector’s office with the injured student, his supporters and media personnel and allegedly issued verbal threats, and made purported remarks referring the officer’s caste.

The DWO stated that the behaviour caused “mental harassment” and harmed his professional dignity. Following the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
