Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: The ‘Governor’s Trophy Pratibha Anweshana’, a state-level cultural programme which will see the participation of children from across the state, will be organised December 18 and 19.
The event will be organised jointly by Orissa Sangeet Natak Akademi and Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi, informed culture director Sushil Kumar Das at a press meet here.
“The event gives a platform to young aspiring artistes in the state. Around 240 artistes selected in all categories from all over the state will participate in competitions at Rabindra Mandap and Raj Bhawan. The Governor will give away prizes to winners on the concluding day,” said Das.
Odissi dance, folk dance and song competitions will be held at Rabindra Mandap and a visual art competition will be held at Raj Bhawan.
More than 5,000 students had participated in block-level competitions held earlier in the state while around 1,000 students participated at the district-level.
Sangeet Natak Akademi secretary Dheera Mallik, Lalit Kala Akademi secretary Tarakant Parida and others were present at the press meet.
The event initiated in 2010 by then Governor MC Bhandare will be held this time for the fifth consecutive year. The competition is held in two categories: junior (students of Classes V-VII) and senior (VIII-X).
