Bhubaneswar: Oxford Bookstore here Saturday played host to the launch of and discussion on ‘Nandini Satpathy: The Iron Lady of Orissa’, which is a poignant tribute to the indomitable spirit and legacy of Odisha’s only woman chief minister Nandini Satpathy. The book is penned by acclaimed author Pallavi Rebbapragada.
The event, organised by the Kalinga Literary Festival’s monthly community literary event, KLF Corner, was abuzz with literary enthusiasts and admirers.
The discussion was moderated by Educationist and VC of DN Wisdom Tree Global School, Panchami Manoo Ukil.
The insightful discussion delved deep into the life, achievements, and enduring impact of the formidable leader, shedding light on her unparalleled contributions to the socio-political landscape of Odisha and beyond.
During the discussion, Pallavi said, “I stumbled upon her during my work for the story on women-related issues and during that time, I learnt about her and her work as chief minister, her role in 1971 war, her relationship with Indira Gandhi and others. She was a great daughter of Odisha and India.”
She said, “My main aim of writing this book is to celebrate Nandini Satpathy’s legacy and wanted to tell a story of a leader who was forgotten.”
Stating that she wants the book be made into a biopic movie in future, Pallavi said, “The people of Odisha, especially the youth, must read this book to understand and know her story.”
Tathagata Satpathy, son of Nandini Satpathy and Editor of Dharitri and OrissaPOST graced the occasion among others.
