Bhatli: In a shocking incident, a 70-year-old man was hacked to death by his nephew over property dispute at Jada village near Bhatli in Bargarh district Tuesday evening.
The deceased was idenified as Kalia Bhue (70) while the accused was identified as Mohan Bhue (46). Preliminary police investigation revealed Mohan had his eye on Kalia’s property so that he hatched a plan and killed him.
Based on a complaint, police registered a case of murder and arrested Mohan. The body was seized and sent for post-mortem to Bargarh district hospital.
According to sources, Kalia had two daughters who are now married off and living separately. Since Kalia had no son and lived alone, Mohan wanted to grab all the property.
As per plan, he hacked the elderly man to death with an axe while the latter was asleep, Bhatli IIC Nirod Das said.
