Bhubaneswar, Dec 6: Panposh Sports Hostel (PSH) and Kahupani emerged champions of the professional and rural division respectively in the Intercity Gold Cup Hockey Tournament which concluded at Rourkela, Sunday.
The 70 minutes match of the Professional division between PSH and Sail Hockey Academy ended in a 3-3 draw. The professional teams entered a penalty shootout that ended with heart throbbing 6-5 victory for PSH. The champions team bagged a cash prize of `25,555 and the runners-up took home `21,111.
In the Rural division, Kahupani prevailed over Dhoribahal 6-2 to takethe top honours. While Kukuda bagged the third place and Joketa sealed the fourth position. Anand Kiro of Kahupani) was adjudged the best player. Dipu Kujur of Dhoribahal) and Abhisek Horo of Kahupani bagged the man of the match and best goalkeeper awards respectively. As the champions team Kahupani received cash award of `15,555. Joing as chief guest sports minister Sudam Marndi distributed the prizes.
RBI win
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) blanked hosts Bhabani Club 3-0 via tie-breaker in the final to emerge champions of the 9-a-side one day football tournament at the Kalinga Stadium here Sunday.
The nail-biting final ended in goalless draw in the stipulated time. The champion team received the trophy along with a cash award of `3,000.
Sk Zahid and SS Alam of the champion team received the best forward and best defender awards respectively.
