Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police is now following the path of Mumbai police to spread awareness about road safety, not just on the roads but beyond it using filmy dialogues.
The state police department has taken the Hindi movie route – a dialogue from the recently released film Race 3 – to convey road safety message to commuters.
A post from the official Twitter handle of the Odisha Police Saturday featured a still from the trailer of the film, with the dialogue “Our Business is our business none of your business” in which Odisha Police captioning it “Follow the Rules, else your business will be our business”. It further tweeted, “With interceptors deployed on the streets and highways, we ensure a thorough check on over-speeding and enforcement of traffic rules. If you don’t want us to #MindYourBusiness, drive safe, and abide by the road safety rules. #SafetyFirst.”
Race 3, the third film in the Race series which was released June 15 this year had multi-star cast including Salman Khan, Saqib Saleem, Daisy Shah, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Jacqueline Fernadez in lead roles. It was directed by Remo D’Souza.
The twitter account of Odisha Police has over 8,827 followers. In a couple of hours after the tweet was sent out, it had 13 retweets and more than 1,000 likes.
The state police in recent times had organised many awareness events such as rallies, seminars and meetings at frequent intervals to drive home the point of road safety. Recently, Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma had instructed all Superintendents of Police (SPs) in every district to enforce road safety rules and take stringent action against violators on the occasion of Road Safety Week. While 4,463 people had died in road mishaps across the state in 2016, the toll jumped to 4,790 in 2017.
Recently, Mumbai police had taken inspiration from movie dialogues for awareness campaign. They had taken a dialogue from the forthcoming film Dhadak to convey a road safety message to travellers. A post from the official Twitter handle of the Mumbai police, featured a still from the trailer of the film, with the dialogue “Kya naatak kar raha hai, mujhe dekh kyun nahi raha” superimposed on it.
It was captioned, “Don’t underestimate the emotional quotient of traffic signals! And their e-challan is anyways not too happy with your relationship. Traffic signal matters.”
Earlier, they had also used the famous Race 3 dialogues for the awareness about protecting data in the cyberspace and ensuring it is not shared with strangers online. They had rephrased the dialogue as ‘My data is My data none of your data’.
