Berhampur: The candidates who appeared examinations for Group-D posts conducted by Railway Recruitment Board Thursday alleged massive irregularities in its recently published result.
The candidates took out a rally in Berhampur Thursday to protest the irregularities.
The examination was conducted for 62,907 posts and across the country 1.89 crore aspirants had appeared for this examination. The examination was conducted between August and October last year in four phases. Aspirants were given an online test besides Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
January, the results were declared. Many aspirants from Berhampur were marked passed thus assuring them of the said post.
The normalization mark however, published March 4 shattered their hopes. It had no raw mark. Those who were earlier marked passed have been declared failed. Those who secured a raw mark of 55 have 49 as normalisation mark. There are a number of candidates with such raw mark and normalisation mark difference. Some candidates have raw mark 70 but normalization mark is 97.
And the marks awarded to some candidates have broken all bounds. Full adjudged normalisation mark is 100 and there are candidates who have secured the normalisation mark more than 100.
A candidate has secured 143 out of 100. There are many candidates who have been awarded 111, 102 and so on.
These anomalies have put the candidates under doubt os the fairness in the way the examination was being conducted.
The alleged victimised candidates in Berhampur Thursday gathered at municipal library and took out a rally through the town to reached the railway station. They staged a demonstration shouting slogans against Railway Recruitment Board.
Later they handed over a letter of demand addressed to chief personnel officer, East Coast Railway to the Berhampur station manager.
They have demanded for republish of normalization mark.
About 200 candidates including Dhabaleswar Maharana, Narayan Gaud and Chinmay Parida took part in the demonstration.
