Bhubaneswar, June 26: After a brief spell of rain across the state, the southwest monsoon has taken a pause, stated the Meteorological Centre sources here Friday.
Predicting a gradual decline in the quantum of rain in the days to come, the Met sources said in view of strong and gusty surface winds prevailing off Orissa coast the fishermen should stay away from venturing into the sea.
The surface wind speed may reach 45kmph during the next 24 hours, said the weatherman. Meanwhile, the Met Centre has traced a nominal rainfall of 18 mm in Koraput, 11.8 mm each in Subarnapur and Chandbali while the remaining parts of Orissa remained dry.
However, heavy rainfall may lash one or two places in north Orissa and the general weather elsewhere may remain dry in the next 48 hours.
Met sources who had warned of light to moderate rain or thundershower over interior and southern pockets till July 1, have withdrawn the warning for that period.
The weather in Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas is expected to remain cloudy with occasional rain or thundershower in the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperature may remain between 34° and 26° Celsius over the city, Saturday.
