Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) will begin the admission process for the 108 students of Sardar Rajas Medical College and Hospital Friday.
After opposition from several quarters and the intervention of the Supreme Court, the DMET has cancelled the earlier admission of these students from Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital and Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.
The DMET has issued notification to admit these students into three private medical colleges and hospitals such as Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences and the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital.
Nearly, 84 students of 2013-14 batch and 24 students of 2014-15 batch will get admission in the three private medical colleges and hospital located in the capital city. These medical colleges will admit 36 students each.
The candidates will have to lock their choices of colleges from 10am to 10pm Friday. The DMET will provide the allotment letter to the candidates from 10am to 5am January 16. The counselling of the students will be held at DMET office January 18. The candidates will join their colleges January 18 and 19.
