Electing to field first, Kendrapara bowled out Balasore for 128 in 51 overs as Syed Amman Ali (6/44) single-handedly destroyed the latter’s innings at the Barabati Stadium. In reply, Kendrapara were 142/6 in 48 overs at stumps, thanks to a patient century by Rajat Das (100 batting).

At the Bidanasi Ground, Cuttack bowled out Jharsuguda for 132 in 60 overs as their bowlers (Md Sahil Raja (3/25), Soren SK Majhi (3/30) and Rajesh Das (3/32) combined well to take three wickets each. In reply, the Cuttack-A were 96/3 and looked set to take a decent lead with Sourav Parida (32 batting) and Anurag Kanojia (9 batting) at the crease at the end of the day’s play.

After a debacle against Delhi at Firoz Shah Kotla stadium Friday, where Orissa lost by an innings and 150 runs, the state selection committee Saturday made some changes in the team for the Ranji Trophy tie against Rajasthan to be played at the Gandhi Stadium, Saturday. Pratik Das has been rewarded with a place in the 15-member squad after he performed brilliantly in the U-23 CK Naidu cricket tournament. All-rounder Paresh Patel has also been selected in the team. The selectors chose to axe wicket keeper Haldhar Das and leg spinner Lagnajit Samal.
