Paralakhemundi: Soil loot is going on unabated on the outskirts of this district headquarters town in Gajapati district under the very nose of the administration, a report said.
The incident has not caught the attention of the administration even as huge quantities of soil from near Sidhipalam village here is being excavated by machines and transported to various areas in hundreds of tractors, alleged locals.
This is not a stray incident, soil is excavated unlawfully from various areas of this district and sold, they said, adding the government doesn’t get a rupee as revenue from it.
When contacted, Paralakhemundi additional tehsildar Achyutananda Jani said he has not received any complaint in this regard. He would depute a revenue inspector to probe the matter, added Jani.
Action would be taken against those found guilty in such illegality, the tehsildar said.
