Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy that released on Valentine’s Day has opened to a stupendous opening. According to early estimates, Gully Boy earned around Rs 15 to 20 crore on its opening day.
The film is expected to rise during weekends.
Gully Boy is about Murad (Ranveer), a rapper from the slums of Mumbai, who wants to rise above his socio-economic status to become a star. Despite being discouraged over and over again, he manages to take the underground rap scene by storm. The film is inspired by the life of street rappers Divine and Naezy.
Produced by Tiger Baby Productions and Excel Entertainment, Gully Boy also features Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz and Amruta Subhash in pivotal roles. The film is expected to pick up further over the weekend.
