Bhadrak: A man who was accused of raping a class-V girl student Friday evening, committed suicide by jumping in front font a train in Dhamnagar area of Bhadrak Saturday. A complaint was lodged with local police station about the rape case.
Such case has happened when Pari awareness campaign is being undertaken across the state.
“The accused is suspected to have jumped in front of the train for fear of public embarrassment,” said SK Kasimuddin, the ASI of GRP police station. The GRP police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Dhamnagar IIC Bandana Patra got the victim medically examined at the district headquarters hospital Saturday.
According to report, the girl was returning home from tuition Friday evening when Bishnumohan Patra of Adampur village lured the girl with chocolate to his house and committed the crime.
The victim revealed the matter before her parents. When the victim’s mother asked the accused about the matter, the latter admitted his guilt and offered her Rs 300.
The victim was admitted to the district headquarters hospital late Friday night.
On hearing the news, the accused rushed to Kenduapada railway station and jumped in front of the train. His condition was critical. His family members rushed him to the DHH where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
