Bhubaneswar: The postmortem report of Pragyan Saswati Priyadarshani, a Plus II student of Ravenshaw, indicated her death was caused due to cerebral injury.
Priyadarshani who left her home at Gangadharpur February 27 for her college after vacation had gone missing. The next day her body was found on the railway track near Kuhudi station with injury marks in her skull. She was wearing the same clothes that she had left home with.
The postmortem report, a copy of which is in possession of Orissa POST, mentions that no visible injury was detected in the girl’s private parts. It says: “Vaginal swab of the victim was collected and sent to pathology department of the Capital Hospital. Report reveals no spermatozoa.”
The girl’s parents Paramanand Das and Sarada Das have also ruled out rape of their daughter but alleged it was a murder perpetrated by a person of their village who stalked her.
The report says the cerebral injury of Priyadarshani might have been caused due to hard and blunt trauma, which is signed by Dr Laxmikanta Behera and Kabita Nayak of Capital Hospital.
GRP superintendent of police Sanjay Kaushal told Orissa POST that the report is not conclusive proof of attack caused by bludgeoning. When asked whether the police are treating the case as murder, Kaushal said the police are not leading the investigation with a pre-conceived notion.
The girl’s parents who have protested before the Mahila Commission here Monday alleged there was abnormal delay on the part of police in taking action against the accused responsible for their daughter’s murder. They suspect Santanu Sahu has been getting political protection as he not been arrested so far.
Accompanied by members of All India Revolutionary Women’s Organisation and Sachetna Nagarik Mahasangh (SNM), the parents said they wanted speedy hearing of their complaint by the Women’s Commission.
