Bhubaneswar: Economic Offences Wing (EOW) sleuths here Wednesday arrested a 40-year-old man on charges of duping a man of Rs 22.55 lakh on the pretext of selling land.
EOW sleuths said they have arrested Rehematun Nisha, managing director of Wellmade Builders Private Limited and a resident of Sanakunjhala in Jajpur district, in connection with Rs 22.55 fraud.
According to the case details, the complainant Mohammed Nawaz Hassan had paid the money to Nisha and his employees to purchase a plot at Adarsha Nagar in Barang and a shop-room at Raghunathpur area here in 2013. The company had even issued money receipt and executed the agreement. However, the dubious firm neither delivered the land nor returned the money. Later, Nisha was unreachable. The victim approached the EOW which registered a case (4/2017) under several Sections of the IPC and Section 6 of the OFID Act 2011.
