Malkangiri: Three days after the abduction of three villagers on suspicion of being police informers, Maoists Sunday killed a person by slitting his throat at a “Praja court” and later abandoned his body on the road at Kukurakundi village under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district.
The deceased tribal was identified as Buja Kabasi. The suspected Maoists after killing Buja released two others from their detention after assaulting them brutally. The incident has sparked panic in the area. The Left Wing Extremists have once again reasserted their presence by killing the tribal villager in the district.
According to reports, the ultras had abducted two tribals along with Buja Kabasi – Masa Sodi and Unga Kalmali – on the suspicion that they were police informers who knew the whereabouts of the Naxalites. Later, the Reds conducted a “Praja court” at Dandipadar Thursday and tried the three on charges of being police informers.
The Maoists allegedly instructed them to refrain from being police informers and beat them up severely in the presence of several top cadre Naxalites from Chhattisgarh and Malkangiri area. However, three days after their abduction the ultras killed Buja by slitting his throat and dumped the body on a road at Kukurakundi before fleeing.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter. Earlier, the Maoists had burnt down several vehicles engaged in road construction work following which developmental works have come to a halt in the area under Mathili police stations limits.
