Air pollution 25 times higher in Faridabad

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has directed the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) to furnish a compliance report on the measures initiated by it to curb rising air pollution in Cuttack.

A division bench of Justice SK Sahoo and Justice V Narasingh took cognisance of a newspaper report and asked the regional officer of the pollution board to file a detailed report on the measures taken by it since January to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

“Let an affidavit be filed by the Regional Offi cer, Odisha State Pollution Control Board, indicating specific steps taken from January 2025 onwards against individuals/authorities/industries responsible for creating air pollution in Cuttack City, the monitoring activities of the Regional Office to ensure compliance of environmental regulations and number of cases instituted, if any, during such period in connection with violation of environmental norms”, the division bench ordered.

It posted the matter for further hearing September 25.
