Bhubaneswar: Despite opening up of new mines, the state government’s revenue collection has dropped by `136 crore till October end as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
This was revealed at the monthly secretary-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the Secretariat here Thursday.
According to sources, state’s own revenue collection was `11,970.78 crore till October 2015 while the collection till October this year stands at `11,834.47 crore. Though the decline in revenue collection stands at 1.14 per cent only, it is not a healthy sign for the state’s economy.
Padhi asked the revenue collection departments to take every possible step to ensure enhancement in revenue collection.
State plan budget utilisation up to October 2016 has touched around 46 per cent of the budget provision – an increase of around 18.37 per cent as compared to the utilisation during 2015-16 fiscal. Around `20,872 crore has been utilised under state plan till October 2016, said the meeting.
Utilisation in agriculture and allied sectors stands at `5,393 crore – about 49 per cent of the budget estimate. Expenditure in this sector has risen by 5 per cent over the expenditure of last fiscal.
Similarly, the infrastructure spending has also gone up to around 56 per cent of the budget estimate marking a growth of around 2 per cent over the last year. Utilisation in this sector has been to the tune of `6,043 crore in real terms up to October 2016.
Social sector spending also touched `8,373 crore – an increase of around 4 per cent over the last year.
Reviewing the progress, Padhi directed all departments to keep close watch over the field level implementation of the flagship programmes.
The discussion also revealed that around 86 per cent of grievances received through e-Abhijoga have been disposed of up to November 1.
